GENERAL INFORMATION:
Ro-Ro “NEARCHOS” is an open type cargo ship for domestic voyages. She came from the conversion of closed type
C/P/V “MENHIR”, which was bought by CRETA CARGO LINES II on 2016. The vessel initially was constructed with
the approval and the supervision of DNV on Denmark (Aalborg) during 1968 for the transport of trains and
passengers in the area of North Sea. For this reason her construction was characterized as “ice class vessel”. The
actual works on board concerned her conversion in ro-ro open type for the transportation of heavy and dangerous
cargoes in trucks together with 12 trucks’ drivers.

SCOPE OF WORK:
- Use assessment of the existing vessel for the transportation of heavy and dangerous cargoes and preliminary description of the required conversion works for this reason.
- Preliminary examination of vessel’s stability and definition of required constructions for safety reasons.
- Planning of required dismantling according the final design of vessel’s conversion and safety regulations in order the vessel to remain compact.
- Re- design of all spaces and especially of accommodation spaces for the crew and the drivers.
- Detailed design of the whole vessel’s conversion. Implementation of International Load Line Convention with amendments and IMO Res. A.749(18) for intact stability of all type vessels together with all greek regulations for this kind of ships.
- Supervision during conversion works.
- New stability test and new stability booklet. New calculation booklets according administration requirements.
- Technical support during surveys for certificates’ issue by INSB.
